Custodians of memory and vision

Overlooking the city from its hillside vineyard vantage point Castel Mareccio is a 13th-century gem later turned into a stylish Renaissance residence. Founded in 1237, Castel Roncolo conserves medieval fresco cycles depicting knights jousting while ladies watch, evocative emblems of court life. One of the oldest, majestic Castel Firmiano dominates the valley, speaking silent volumes of people and centuries and now the site of the Messner Mountain Museum.

Historic buildings with stories to tell

The Renaissance towers and courtyards of Castel Mareccio have family and art stories to tell in their dialogue with the landscape. Courtly life and legends come to life in the colourful frescoed rooms of Castel Roncolo, thanks to expert renovation by the Vintler family. Historically a strategic symbol of the city and made of local porphyry stone, imposing Castel Firmiano dates back to the 11th century. Today it conserves timeless stories of people, mountains and landscapes.
